田中 悠宇吾［シタール奏者］
東京都出身。2008年よりDr.Gopal Krishan Shahに師事。
【ゴパル・クリシャン・シャー博士（デリー大学）Pt.ハリ・クリシャン・シャーとベテラン・グル・Pt.アルビンド・パリク （エタワ・ガラナ）に師事】
アカデミックな学校教育の枠組みではなく、インド伝統の一対一の師弟関係（グル・シシュヤ・パランパラー）に身を置く。師と生活や時間を共にしながら、楽譜を一切用いない「口伝」によって、北インド古典音楽の高度な技術と真摯な精神性を体得する道を歩んでいる。
師より受け継いだその血脈は、北インド古典音楽の歴史を支えてきた2つの偉大な潮流へと繋がっている。 シタール奏法においては、巨匠ウスタッド・ヴィラヤット・カーン（Ustad Vilayat Khan）に代表される最高峰の流派「エタワ・ガラナ（Etawah Gharana）」を継承。楽器でありながら人間の「歌声」を極限まで表現する独自の技法（ガヤキ・アング）を軸とする。同時に、ヒマラヤのバドリナート寺院で生涯を音楽瞑想に捧げ、のちに「ヴィーナ・マハラジ」と称された高潔な音楽聖者スワミ・D.R.パルワティカル（Swami D. R. Parvatikar）へと遡る「ナーダ・ヨガ（音のヨガ）」の伝統を宿す。音そのものが持つ瞑想的な響きや、空間・心身へ与える微細なエネルギーの探求を重ねている。
インド古典音楽の厳格な旋律（ラーガ）とリズム（ターラ）の構造を正統に守りながらも、その表現のスタンスは極めて現代的である。シタールが持つ神秘的な生音の美しさをベースに、ディレイやリバーブをはじめとする現代のエフェクター（空間系モジュレーションなど）を導入した独自の音響デザインを展開。アンビエント、ドローン、サイケデリックといった要素を心地よく融合させ、既存のワールドミュージックの枠に収まらない先進的なサウンドスケープを提示している。
毎年、天台宗等覚院にて花まつり奉納演奏を納めるプロジェクトを企画。
これまでにAprl名義で「one(2015)」ソロ名義で「Letters.(2021)」をリリース。

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Tokyo. In 2008, he became a disciple of Dr. Gopal Krishan Shah (Delhi University), who himself trained under Pt. Hari Krishan Shah and the veteran guru Pt. Arvind Parikh of the Etawah Gharana. Eschewing the framework of academic schooling, Tanaka immersed himself in the traditional Indian system of Guru-Shishya Parampara—a rigorous, one-on-one master-disciple relationship. By sharing daily life and time with his guru, he continues to master the advanced techniques and profound spirituality of North Indian classical music through the strict tradition of oral transmission (oral lineage), completely independent of written notation.
The musical lineage he has inherited through his guru connects him to two monumental streams in the history of Indian classical music. In his sitar technique, he inherits the legacy of the Etawah Gharana (Imdadkhani Gharana), one of the most refined lineages, epitomized by the legendary maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan. His playing is centered around Gayaki Ang (vocal style), a distinctive technique that pushes the boundaries of the sitar to emulate the nuances and emotional depth of the human singing voice. Simultaneously, he carries the spiritual tradition of Nada Yoga (the Yoga of Sound), tracing back to Swami D. R. Parvatikar. Known as "Veena Maharaj," this noble musical saint dedicated his life to musical meditation at the sacred Badrinath Temple in the Himalayas. Inheriting this ethos, Tanaka deeply explores the meditative resonance of sound itself and its subtle energy on the mind, body, and space.
While faithfully preserving the strict, orthodox structures of traditional Raga (melody) and Tala (rhythm), his expressive stance remains highly contemporary. Grounded in the mystical natural beauty of the sitar’s acoustic sound, he develops a unique sonic architecture by introducing modern electronic effects, such as delays, reverbs, and spatial modulations. By seamlessly weaving elements of ambient, drone, and psychedelic music into his art, he presents an innovativeサウンドスケープ (soundscape) that transcends the conventional boundaries of world music.
As a cultural visionary, he organizes and performs an annual project of dedicatory musical offerings (Hanamatsuri Hono Enso) at the Tokaku-in Temple of the Tendai Sect to celebrate Buddha's birthday. His discography includes the album "one" (2015), released under the moniker Aprl, and his solo album "Letters." (2021).
